Costly education for our children-all for nothing?

Dear educators and parents,

Recently, MOM made its stand on foreigners with unaccredited degrees:

"Qualifications from “degree mills” are completely disregarded.

"HE WILL BE GRANTED A WORK PASS ONLY IF HE MEETS THE MORE STRINGENT SALARY AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA".

In short, it means that such foreigners are given a 2nd chance to work in Singapore if they have the relevant industry experience.

For the past 30 years, parents and teachers have spent uncountable sums of money as well as copious amounts of blood, sweat and tears on the next generation in hopes that they can be gainfully employed and have good futures. We send our children to the best, thousand dollars per month nursery schools, and we fight with hundreds of other parents to enroll our children in brand-name primary schools, not to mention spending the next few weeks worrying about the registration results.

Will the next generation of Singaporeans be severely disadvantaged by these foreigners who want to try their luck on our shores? Will this nullify the blood, sweat and tears spent by educators and parents? I implore educators and parents to refer these genuine concerns to their respective MPs and the authorities via emails and Facebook; we must be heard.
