 Mr Edwin Cheng is an effective and dynamic tutor who specialises in giving English tuition to Secondary & Primary School students. He is currently the Principal Master Tutor and Founder of EduEdge Learning Hub. Mr Cheng has a rare but interesting teaching subject combination – that of English and Physics. He exudes the flair of language in both spoken and written forms, and at the same time, is very much at home with the layers and structures of a scientist. This combination has allowed him to develop a unique, scientific teaching methodology towards helping students learn English in a structured way.
As a student, Mr. Cheng struggled with the English Language and had his fair share of frustrations. He was a Science-stream student all the way from Primary to Junior College level. It was not until he made a switch over to the ‘Arts’ faculty in University that he became more attuned with his right brain that he realised that there was actually a ‘Science’ behind English.
Armed with this newfound knowledge and marrying it with his background in Science training, he began developing a unique, scientific teaching methodology towards helping students learn English in a structured way known as the ‘SPARK’ framework. The 'SPARK' Teaching Methodology demystifies language learning by applying a 'Science' to the teaching of the subject - namely, via the following processes: Scan - Plan - Action - Review - Knowledge.
With 10 years+ tutoring and 7 years+ public school teaching experience under his wing, Mr. Cheng has a wealth of experience working with students from different entry levels, ranging from neighbourhood schools to schools with higher academic demands.
Today, hundreds of students have benefited from the 'SPARK' way of English learning, achieving good passes and coveted distinctions for the subject.
