NUS Module SSS1207 Natural Heritage of Singapore: A Review

A Singapore Studies module. Extremely high bidding points involved. I think I spent more than 800 points on it. However it was really worth it. If you hate writing essays, this is THE module to take. Also, this is the only SS module with assessments completely MCQ-based.

Exams are open book. So for me, I just read through the entire textbook twice to prepare for the exam. The textbook itself is colourful with a lot of pictures, so the readings generally aren't dry. I feel that the exams are more like a competition of who can flip the textbook to find answers the fastest. >.<

Lecturers are passionate on the topic. But unfortunately, I am not...so I fell asleep in lectures a couple of times. But it is a breeze really. You just go for the lectures and sit through them. No preparation needed at all. Content wise some are interesting, some are totally boring. I found the animals part interesting as the lecturers sometimes will share interesting experiences and facts. But as far as the plants and conservation part was concerned, I just totally zzz.

Project involves only doing up a poster. Totally stress free. You are encouraged to go for the field trips but it is not compulsory. I went for 1 only but didn't find it useful for the exams. It is more of fyi only.

Overall a light module. Nothing complicated. Highly recommended if you have the points to spare and need to clear a SS module.
