2025 Domain of Singapore Tutoring Experts' List of "Exotic" Public Studying Areas |
---|
Happy 60th birthday dear Lion City! Ah yes, Singapore brims with bounteous public safe havens for the average Joe or Jane seeking quiet sanctuary (beyond the stifling confines of his/her own home or repetitive neighbourhood library), religiously studious student especially; we know so, from our ever ongoing reconnoitring adventures islandwide. You are equally cognizant, probably because we never stopped rhapsodizing since like when said column kicked off lo many moons ago. Our bad. Okie dokes, without further delay, let's get straight to business. Say hello to list no.13 unfurled right below: 1. Central Expressway Underpass Deemed a perfect harbour against the elements, this rangy, decently lit "cavern" of sorts which snakes beneath the CTE toll road and constitutes the recently enhanced Kallang Park Connector (near Toa Payoh Lorong 8, see section marked out in red on map screenshot furnished herein) comes replete with terrazzo + timber seats, thus making for quite the study nirvana we shit you not. 2. One Punggol Situated adjacent to Sam Kee LRT station, the self-touted integrated lifestyle hub spanning five stories boasts a community club, hawker centre, shopping piazza amongst other amenities. Till date, however, OP tragically remains a forsaken hamlet, the emptiness resonating even more acutely during weekends. Hell, odds reckon one'd chance upon some damm apparition than any actual living, breathing human - perhaps that's exaggerating affairs, but you grasp the picture. Consequently, settle down (atop any of 'em innumerable benches seen scattered athwart the ground floor), saddle up and start seriously flipping through ya lecture notes before too long. |
3. Beside Mayflower & Market Food Centre Four ponderous, whimsically tinted garden swings dropped anchor as per abovementioned scream deadpan big time, in honesty who cares though? What you should care, rather, is whether they have been left to utter abandon. Because serial personal observations, alas, point towards an immediate vicinage teetering on the brink of irredeemable decrepitness - true salvation would very much entail tearing apart and rebuilding...almost everything. Therefore hotfoot it; yellow or pink, stow yourself away appositely, then blast off into revision neverland. The proverbial wrecking ball might already be impending. |
4. Geneo, Singapore Science Park Blockbuster greenery, snappy respite zones flourish @ Geneo, a newly rejuvenated life sciences and innovation cluster (brandishing 1.8 million sq ft of customisable workspaces across 5 grade A buildings) within the Singapore Science Park at One-North. Other salient niceties include Geneo's expansive event plaza cloistered by a staggering 27m-tall mass engineered timber (MET) canopy structure, triple-storey underground mall (adjoining Kent Ridge MRT Station), even an outdoor miniature gymnasium. What else could you need, really? |
Remember, always observe proper decorum when studying in these public areas; when you need to walk away, WALK AWAY. Being confrontational is pure stupidity. HAVE FUN, AND GOOD LUCK FOR YOUR TESTS/EXAMS! |
