Parent: What I expect of my tutor

A netizen who goes by the online moniker zbear lists 5 things she expects from tutors she hires, and these are pretty reasonable demands which most parents would make of any professional private educator:

"Both my kids and I do not demand much (in fact, my kids are very easy going).

All I want from the tutors :

1. To be punctual (5-10 mins late is fine) but at times, if one is late by more than 30 mins yet does not have the courtesy to inform me that accordingly, I don't like being kept waiting indefinitely.

2. I don't like tutors to change schedules frequently.

3. I don't like tutors canceling tuition classes at the very last minute, eg 2 hours before the start time without a valid reason.

4. My kids and I never request anything extra such as hundreds of pages of notes from the tutor. If the tutor wants to give, its fine. It is not an expectation of the tutor to do extra if he/she doesn't want to.

5. I don't like tutors who have constant mood swings. When teaching in a bad mood, my kids are the ones who suffer and its neither professional nor right since I am paying for the tutoring services."

ADMINISTRATOR'S THOUGHTS: IF THE TUTOR DOES NOT PROVIDE NOTES OF THEIR OWN, PARENTS MAY WISH TO GENTLY PROBE THE TUTOR HIMSELF/HERSELF REGARDING THEIR AVAILABILITY.
